Violence increasing in hospitals — what’s behind the rise?

There’s a new warning out about the increased violence taking place in hospitals and other medical facilities.

The Joint Commission recently warned that rates of crime in general, and violent crime in particular, are rising steadily in health care facilities. • Evaluating risk of violence on-site
  • Encouraging employees to report crimes to law enforcement, and
  • Increasing security precautions in the emergency department
