New York launches $4.2 million program to create 1,500 health IT jobs

There’s already a high demand for employees experienced in healthcare technology, and that will only increase with initiatives such as a new program in New York state designed to create health IT jobs.

The New York Digital Health Accelerator (NYDHA) is a new initiative launched by the New York eHealth Collaborative, the New York City Investment Fund and the New York State Department of Health. The $4.2 million investment will create 1,500 new health IT jobs in the state, the group says.

The program will choose 12 early- and growth-stage companies developing innovative tech products in areas such as care coordination, patient engagement, analytics and message alerts for healthcare providers. Those companies will be awarded $300,000 and receive mentoring from executives at leading hospitals in New York.
