More hospitals using iPads at the patient bedside

A recent survey shows the iPad and other Mac products making significant inroads among users in the health care field.

Within the next year, 70% of health care organizations plan to use iPads as part of their patient care and administrative practices — 25% of those are implementing those plans “immediately.” That’s according to a recent survey of Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) members.

Of those planning to use the devices in their organizations, one-third cited point-of-care applications, such as lab order visualization and results, and viewing medical images, as the uses they were most interested in. Another 18% were focused on applications that included general administration, including billing, coding, and claims applications..
