Newest high risk patients: Frequent business travelers?

Road warriors are racking up high blood pressure and other maladies in addition to all those frequent flier miles.

That’s the takeaway from a recent report in the Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

A study of more than 13,000 found that those who traveled for their jobs had poorer health in general than those who didn’t. And the more people travelled, the worse their health was.

The most frequent travelers — in this case, on the road for 20 or more nights per month — were almost three times as likely to say they had poor health in general, were twice as likely to be obese. They also were more likely to say they had higher blood pressure and worse cholesterol levels.
