How EHRs increase malpractice risk

There’s a huge push to move more practices to electronic health records. But does doing so put a practice at greater risk of a malpractice suit?

One recent report says yes.

Two professors at Case Western Reserve University recently warned that most physicians are unaware of the risk they can face from an EHR system. For example, if the software has bugs, or if staffers are improperly trained on how to use it, it can actually introduce medical errors, such as improper dosing.
