Expect to see hospitals paying more settlements for false claims now that the health care reform law is on the books.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) will bolster the False Claims Act. And there are signs that further support from the feds is on the way.
The PPACA provides an extra $10 million a year for uncovering and prosecuting health care fraud. But the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 will increase funding for health care law enforcement by an additional $250 million over the next five years.
