Health care spending increases starting to reverse?

The skyrocketing cost of health care is slowing — a little.

The per capita cost of health care covered by Medicare and other insurers rose “just” 6.27% in the 12 months prior to November 2010 — that’s down from 6.68% the year before.

While no one expects the cost of health care to drop anytime soon, the deceleration of spending gives payers a little extra breathing room — and provides hope to patients — that efforts to rein in the cost of care are gaining traction.
