Adoption of electronic health records continues apace — with many more practices planning to implement the technology in the very near future.
A recent survey of physician practices found that 41% of office-based physicians plan to achieve meaningful use of EHRs and apply for incentive payments. Most of those — about a third of all office-based physicians — plan to apply for incentives this year.
That’s according to research by the National Center for Health Statistics.
A similar survey by the American Hospital Association found that 81% of acute care non-federal hospitals expect to achieve meaningful use of EHRs and apply for incentive payments — two-thirds of hospitals plan to enroll during the first stage of the incentive programs.
