One hospital system claims its electronic health records program is able to reduce hip fractures by 25%.
That’s the word from Kaiser Permanente. The organization plans to use the HealthConnect EHR database to track patients’ osteoporosis-related medications, bone density and other metrics.
A recent Kaiser study, published in the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, showed that aggressively managing at-risk patients in this manner could reduce their rate of hip fractures by 25%.
